Stainless steel pots are popular due to their strong corrosion resistance, durability, and bright appearance.

 

Stainless steel is an iron-based alloy containing 12% to 20% chromium (Cr). Chromium plays a crucial role in stainless steel; it reacts with oxygen to form a dense oxide film (passivation layer), protecting the steel substrate from oxidation and thus improving its rust resistance and corrosion resistance.

 

Some stainless steel pots also contain nickel (Ni) to enhance their corrosion resistance and processing properties. Stainless steel can be classified into several categories according to its microstructure, including austenitic stainless steel, ferritic stainless steel, martensitic stainless steel, and dichromatic stainless steel. Among these, austenitic stainless steel is the mainstream material for cookware due to its excellent overall performance.
